2nd Chance Corporation
A Christian organization for troubled youth and adults to complete their community service hours.
2nd Chance will be having a
Hunter’s Breakfast on November 8, 2025 at
2 nd Chance Grace House, 1660 100th Ave,
Lakeview, MI from 8:00-11:00 am.
We will be drawing for the gun raffle winner at the breakfast.
Come join us for some good food, see the progress we are making on Grace House, support 2nd Chance, and for some good fellowship.
All are welcome, not just hunters.
Bring your family and friends and we will see you there!

2nd Chance is raffling a Winchester 308 rifle as a fundraiser (see description with picture).
The tickets are $20 each and there are 100 tickets to purchase, so the odds of winning are pretty good!
The gun is at Franks Sporting Goods in Morley, MI to be viewed during the duration of the raffle and to be picked up by the winner.
The winner will be chosen on November 8th
At 2nd Chance Grace House at 1660 100th Ave, Lakeview, MI at a Hunters Breakfast we will host that morning.
All are welcome are to the breakfast, you don’t need to be a hunter.
(You don’t need to be present when the winner is chosen.)

What is the cost and time for the Hunters breakfast?
The area where the old south side porch was has been sided with painted rough sawn pine to cover the old exposed lumber.
Grace House just keeps getting prettier and prettier. Blessed!

The upper window trims on the south side of the house are now painted. The garage is looking pretty sharp with a fresh coat of paint. One step at a time, one blessing at a time!

Painting day!
More painting was completed on Grace House and started the priming and painting of the garage. We had a full crew and accomplished a lot in a short amount of time.

2nd Chance Scholarships Awarded
The Scholarship Committee and Board of Directors of 2nd Chance are pleased to
announce this year's recipients, who will each receive $500. This is the fourth year 2nd Chance has awarded scholarships to those seeking further education in the community. Due to very generous donations to the scholarship fund, this year we are privileged to present 6 scholarships to students from two of our local schools, Lakeview and Chippewa Hills.
Shalyn Gunderman from Lakeview will be attending the University of NW Ohio majoring in automotive and diesel repair. Megan Cogswell from Lakeview will be going to Alma College in the fall to play soccer and is undecided in her major. Also from Lakeview is Molly Willison, who will be attending Saginaw Valley State University with her major yet to be determined. Lily Mortensen from Lakeview will be going to Ferris State University majoring in nursing. Kirstin Sherman is graduating from Chippewa Hills and will be attending Mid Michigan and then Central Michigan University with a major in elementary education. In a separate picture is the last recipient from Lakeview. Aubrey Knapp will be attending Northern Michigan University Cosmetology, College of Technology and Occupational Sciences.

2nd Chance is so generously supported by so many people and organizations.
One way we “give back” is to offer scholarships to people who are continuing their education through college or trade school.
This years, we were able to award 6 scholarships to students in this area, 5 from Lakeview and one from Chippewa Hills.
The students will be recognized at their Senior Awards Night and presented their scholarships at the 2nd Chance Board Meeting.
Our scholarship program is an opportunity fir us to offer a second chance for further education by giving “a hand up not a hand out”.
Thank you to the supporters and to our 6 recipients of this year’s scholarships!

501(c)3 non profit corporation
1660 100th Avenue, Lakeview, MI 48850
Hinton Township
2nd Chance Corporation is a 501(c)3 non profit corporation, who acquired the property at 1660 100th Avenue, Lakeview, Michigan in Hinton Township. The Board of Directors of 2nd Chance has started a Christian Retreat Center on the property. It will be available to churches and organizations for short term gatherings, such as youth group meetings, women and men retreats, and many other events that would benefit from a Christian setting. The house could also serve as a location for Cowboy Church, Christian musical events, and many other Christian gatherings. The property will require updating, remodeling, and renovation to reach that goal, with the vision to recreate the appearance that it had over one hundred years ago.
2nd Chance Grace House also will be a rehab center where teens and adults will be able to satisfy their court mandated community service hours. 2nd Chance has worked with youth and adults in Kent County for the past 5 years through the community service program. The youth and adults have committed lesser severe crimes, mostly drug and alcohol charges. 2nd Chance is not qualified to handle those that
have committed severe crimes. The community service workers have been mandated by the courts to perform a court determined amount of hours of community service to satisfy their obligation. These community service workers would be able to satisfy their obligation at this property in many ways such as grounds maintenance, preparing the inside of the house for the guests, cutting, splitting, and stacking wood for the wood boiler, which will be the heat source for the house, and many other tasks required at the property. Because of the location of the property, 2nd Chance will be able to work with community service
workers from Northern Kent, Mecosta and Montcalm counties.
The facility as planned will serve dual purposes; to supply a Christian facility for groups to use for their Christian retreats and gatherings and will be a great location for the community service workers to complete their court mandated obligation.
The 2nd Chance Grace House Board of Directors appreciates your interest and support in this project. The 2nd Chance Corporation, an organization that provides instruction and guidance in life skills to youth and adults, admits participants of any race, color, and national or ethnic origin.
